Experts: Testosterone Therapy Has More Benefits than Risks

Jun 09, 2015

Dr. Susan Davis pointed out that testosterone therapy can be helpful for women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), low libido accompanied by distress.

“Testosterone has been used to treat women with HSDD for decades with no evidence of emergent adverse events and should be seen as an effective and safe management option not just for sexual function, but also for effects on muscle and bone,” Dr. Davis said in the press release.

The AACE plans to issue a position statement on testosterone and risk of heart disease, noting that the therapy can actually decrease heart disease risk factors.
