Many women reach orgasm through stimulation of the clitoris, an area of the genitals often described like the tip of a man’s penis. The clitoris contains over 7,000 nerve endings and can be a source of intense sexual pleasure.

However, only a small portion of the clitoris, an area called the glans, can be seen or touched. The rest of this organ is tucked inside the body and extends to the vaginal opening.

In February, American scientists published research on the clitoris in The Journal of Sexual Medicine. In their study, they found that the size and location of the clitoris could make it more difficult for women to reach orgasm.
