Predictors and prevalence of erectile dysfunction in a racially diverse populationAuthors: CS Saigal, H Wessells, J Pace, M Schonlau, TJ Wilt. Journal: Arch Inter Med 2006; 166:207-212. Editorial Comment: An analysis of the 2001-2002 release of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey has confirmed that erectile dysfunction commonly occurs in men as they age and carries associations with several health risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, current smoking, and hypertension. The survey is believed to be representative of the civilian non-institutionalized United States population and includes men of various races and ethnicities. The findings emphasize that men identified to have these risk factors may also experience erectile dysfunction and should be directed towards erectile dysfunction management. Arthur L.
