New Studies Show No Link Between Testosterone Therapy and Heart Problems

Apr 08, 2015

The results of two additional studies were reported at the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions, also held last month in San Diego.

A research team from Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee reported on their work with 7,245 men with low testosterone. The rate of heart attack, stroke, or death was 5.5% for men taking testosterone and 6.7% for those who did not.

Also, scientists from Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota discussed their analysis of 29 studies involving over 120,000 men. After compiling the research, they concluded that testosterone therapy is not related to heart problems.

Do these studies prove that testosterone therapy has no effect on heart health? Not necessarily. Experts say that longer, more detailed studies are still needed before anyone can say for sure.
